Back in March, Rockstar Games announced the GTA+ subscription service to accompany the PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S release of GTA Online - and it didn’t exactly go down well. For $5.99, April subscribers received $500,000 of in-game money, triple rewards on certain missions, waived fees for car meets, and free item upgrades.
The problem is, these are largely things you can eventually accrue within the game, leading many to brand the subscription service a money grab. The cost simply couldn’t be justified by most fans, but now Rockstar are trying to sway perceptions with a brand new set of monthly freebies.
If you're bored of Grand Theft Auto V, why don't you try doing this line up of weird in-game activities? Take a look below.
This month, GTA+ subscribers will receive a Grotti Brioso R/A car, double money and reputation on VIP contracts and Kart Krash, a sell bonus on nightclub goods, $500,000 of in-game money, Rockford Hills Agency and an Agency wallpaper, red bangles, red ting oversized shades, red swirl oversized jacket and a Split Camo Livery for the Cypher.

Just like April, it’s an average line up at best. If you’re new to the game or if looking for a upgrade boost, a one-month subscription could be for you, but I can’t see anyone returning to the service month on month.
The controversy surrounding the subscription is in relation to inflation. As mentioned, you can get many of the subscription benefits within the game without a subscription. The worry is that Rockstar Games may inflate in-game prices, forcing people to spend their real world bucks on the service - no longer able to afford things with their regular in-game dollars.
Grand Theft Auto V is rumoured to be coming to PC eventually, so GTA online and GTA+ could follow it. Personally, I don’t think even that would be enough to see GTA+ become an essential service to the franchise’s fans.
