The release date for GTA VI is confusing fans, with many seemingly having the wrong idea of when it might be released.
We’re officially a year away from GTA VI, sort of. We know for a fact that it’s going to launch in 2025 for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, Rockstar Games confirmed as much during the first official trailer.

However while that trailer completely blew us away with excitement for Rockstar’s next big open world, it also left us with a lot of questions. One of these questions was whether the game will launch on PC, or receive a port later down the line like GTA V, and the other was when in 2025 it be released.

As you’d expect Rockstar has remained silent on the matter, though fans have their theories. The majority are using its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, and its fiscal year 2025 as evidence the game will be released in April next year. It’s a sound enough theory, but now it’s causing more confusion as fans poke holes in the logic.
One fan on Reddit, DawsonPoe, said in a post that all the theories that use Take-Two’s fiscal year 2025 are mistaken. They went on to explain the fiscal year 2025 “runs from April 1st, 2024-March 31st, 2025,” which would mean the “latest that we would receive the game would be March.”
Fans said they’d love it if this were true, especially since the build shown in the trailer looked relatively finished, meaning Rockstar could be using this “whole year to polish the game and release it with as minimal bugs as possible.”
There’s also a theory knocking around that the release will be sometime in February 2025, close to Valentine's Day considering the two protagonists Lucia and Jason are in a relationship.

Fingers crossed it’s early into 2025 rather than later, though of course there’s always potential for delays to push the release back a little bit further, hopefully, it doesn’t come to that though.
