A Hogwarts Legacy player adds up how long it takes to watch all 95 unskippable Merlin Trials cutscenes.
Hogwarts Legacy is already looking to be a strong contender for the 2023 Game of the Year. What’s more, it’s also proving to be a massive commercial success by shifting more than 12 million copies in just two weeks.
One of the biggest appeals of Hogwarts Legacy, is that it allows you to live the fantasy of being a student at the prestigious school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, that’s not to say that the game isn't without its flaws.
Take for example its cutscenes. Players are unable to pause in-game cutscenes, which feels like a very basic oversight. Despite being out for a few weeks now, an update still hasn't been implemented to fix this particular issue. So if you’re in dire need for a number one, you’re gonna have to hold it in.

So you better hope that you don't have to endure a lengthy cutscene if you’re desperate for the loo. Speaking of lengthy cutscenes, some players feel that the unskippable Merlin Trials cutscenes go on for far too long.
As reported by Game Rant, devoted Reddit user ChezKeetel has calculated how long you’re forced to watch all 95 Merlin Trials cutscenes. How long is that combined total, I hear you ask? According to the Redditor, they go on for a combined total of 950 seconds which works out to be roughly 16 minutes.Sure, 16 minutes is the worst combined total in the world. Still, considering that once you’ve seen one Merlin Trials cutscene, you’ve pretty much seen them all, so it is quite the annoyance. Though it could be worse, it could be a 71-minute Metal Gear Solid 4 cutscene. So thank your lucky stars.

The unskippable Merlin Trials cutscenes is not the only complaint that these side-missions have in Hogwarts Legacy. Players have labbeled its final reward for completing all 95 trials as rubbish. Which perhaps doesnt bode well, as the Merlin Trials is the only way to increase your in-game inventory space.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As for last-gen and Nintendo Switch owners, you’ll have to be a little more patient. The Hogwarts Legacy PS4 and Xbox One release date is 4th April, and then it arrives for Nintendo Switch on 25th, July.
