Two games based on the popular 1978 classic Halloween are currently in active development, and fans of the franchise will doubtlessly be thrilled to learn that the man behind the original film is closely involved with both projects.
As exclusively revealed by IGN, Boss Team Games is the developer behind both projects.
The team has previously worked on Evil Dead: The Game, which was based on another popular horror franchise: 1981’s Evil Dead.

Director John Carpenter is best known for directing several cult classic films, including The Thing, Escape From New York, Big Trouble in Little China, and the original Halloween.

Carpenter is also a big old video game nerd (he’s just like me for real), so his involvement in the upcoming Halloween games is more of an endorsement than you might think.

He’s previously expressed his love for several video game properties, which more than usually end up including horror games. Who’d have thought?
He’s also explicitly expressed interest in directing a film based on the Dead Space games, which isn’t a surprise given that he regularly talks about his love for the franchise.
Details on the two Halloween games are currently sparse, but Boss Team Games did announce that they will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time”.
Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris noted in the press release for the untitled games that “getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true”.

He also stated, “Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honoured to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”
One of those said games is being made in Unreal Engine 5, an exciting prospect. The other is seemingly a retro-stylised side scroller titled Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead RetroRealms Double Feature which has been leaked online via Wario64. Pre-order are up for $49.99.
