A relatively new title on Steam is currently free to play on the platform, seemingly in an attempt to draw players back to the game following the launch of its latest update… but has said update improved the relatively poor reception the game received at launch?
No More Room in Hell 2, the co-op zombie shooter from developer and publisher Torn Banner Studios, released back in October 2024 to pretty terrible user reviews.
The original No More Room in Hell was a mod for Half-Life 2, and it was extremely popular when it was released back in 2011. So, how has a sequel (developed by a well-regarded studio) to a low-budget mod managed to garner such negative feedback?

Well, after browsing through the user reviews for No More Room in Hell 2, it seems there are a few issues players had at launch.
Firstly, the game is buggy. Par for the course for an early access title, but still an understandable complaint for a £24.99 game.
Secondly, it seems fans of the original game are mostly just upset that the sequel changed so many of the beloved mechanics that the first game was known for.
One of the biggest complaints I saw constantly brought up is that the spawn rate of zombies is much higher in the sequel, whereas it was possible to completely clear locations in the original game.

So, has No More Room in Hell 2’s “Reanimation” update (which released a couple of days ago) fixed these issues?
Maybe? While the overall score for the game sits at Mixed with over 7,700 reviews (47% of which are positive), the Recent Reviews score is a little better (still Mixed, but 68% positive).
Either way, the game is currently free for the next three days, so I highly suggest you hop in and decide for yourself if it looks like your cup of tea.
