You can stop your theorising now; Grand Theft Auto VI’s second trailer isn’t set to land anytime soon.
Take Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has issued a major update on both the game’s release date and second trailer and I can tell you now, you’re not going to like what he said.
Fair to say, it was perhaps expected that both of those things might land very soon.

After all, if GTA VI is still indeed targeting a fall / autumn release, there’s only six to eight months of marketing time left.
But according to Zelnick, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two is in a rush to usher GTA VI along with both the game’s release date and second trailer due to be held back until much closer to launch.
"The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I've ever seen for an entertainment property, and I've been around the block a few times," Zelnick told Bloomberg in a new interview.
"I've been in every entertainment business there is, and we want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement.”

You can watch the game’s original trailer here.
"We do have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance, and we found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand, and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation," he continued.
"I don't always get it exactly right, but that's what we're trying to do."

By that metric, it’s perhaps more likely that we’ll see the game surface again in mid to late summer, July or August perhaps?
Needless to say, this is precisely what fans didn’t want to hear.
“For the love of god, c’mon already,” wrote Twitter user OGDonBrazy.
“Wait too long and a lot of people won’t care anymore,” warned Kluuz, although I’m not sure that’s entirely true with this game.

“This is so frustrating on multiple levels. This game is gonna be the best selling game of all time regardless,” added MikeWibsjr. “I don’t know why they have to act like people are gonna lose interest. And if you’re not going to give us the release date, then at least give us a new teaser.”
The only consolation here is that the game is seemingly still on track as Zelnick didn’t reference any delays.
