GTA 6 release date update confirmed, mark your calendars

In a matter of days, we will know whether or not GTA 6 is making its late 2025 release date

It’s believed that Rockstar Games and Take-Two will be dropping an update regarding the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI in a matter of days, following an announcement from the game’s publisher.

This info comes from Indy100’s Jake Brigstock, who states that the next Take-Two earnings call will feature an official statement regarding GTA VI’s planned 2025 Q4 release window.

“With Take-Two revealing the date of its next earnings call will be on May 15 at 4.30pm ET (9.30pm BST / 1.30pm PT), that's the very latest fans will have to wait for an official update on GTA 6's release date,” writes Brigstock.

“In documentation made publicly available just before the calls themselves start, this reveals if the game is still on track or not, so that's the latest fans will have to wait for an official update on the game.”

This follows news of a recently circulated Tweet from Obbe Vermeij, an ex-Rockstar Games employee who worked as a Technical Director on both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, that’s been making some fans a little nervous.

Vermeij revealed that the choice to delay the release of Grand Theft Auto V only happened "4 months or so before the original release date”, and that it was impossible for Rockstar Games to tell if they’d meet the date they’d already set for themselves until this point.

That’s my way of not-so-subtly telling you that an “update” regarding Grand Theft Auto VI may not be the good kind of update, as there will only be roughly six months left in the year by the time Take-Two’s earnings call rolls around.

I’m not saying we should start getting worried, but rather that it’s best to expect the worst ahead of Take-Two’s official statement. Better to have low expectations and be surprised, after all.
