It turns out, you can explore parts of Skyrim and Morrowind in the new Oblivion remaster. Well, if you're playing on PC, that is.
Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered earlier this week, and it's been getting a lot of success. While we're still waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, it's nice to have something new from the series to play.
While we're all getting stuck into re-exploring Cyrodiil and all it has to offer, some players are already trying to explore beyond the boundaries of Tamriel's capital province.
Either by editing a file in the game's directory or using freecam, the original version of Oblivion could let you explore outside of the map's borders.

This meant you could pass the boundaries of the in-game world and travel to provinces like Skyrim or Morrowind. Here's a video of that in action:
Bethesda and Virtuos kept most of this code and files the same for Oblivion Remastered, meaning it's still the original game running underneath all the new Unreal Engine 5 magic.

Therefore, using the same modding tricks, players can go out of bounds in Oblivion Remastered, and explore other areas of Tamriel again.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), content creator and video game easter egg aficionado Synth Potato shared some screenshots demonstrating this.

"This is what Skyrim looks like in Oblivion Remastered," Synth Potato, whose real name is Ameer, posted. "Toggled freecam and was surprised to see that the landmass of Skyrim is there, you can tell points of interests and especially High Hrothgar, pretty insane to see this landmass on Unreal Engine 5 even if it's just LODs."
Indeed, it all seems to be there. Since it lacks major detail, there isn't much else to see outside of the Throat of the World mountain, but it's cool to see that the general layout of the land has stayed intact.
In fact, you can see the Throat of the World even by staying in Cyrodiil. If you head north towards Bruma, the peak of the mountain can be seen just on the horizon if you face Skyrim.
With the mountain being the tallest landmass in all of Tamriel, it would be silly not to be able to see it.

With the Skyblivion mod set to release later this year, which aims to bring all of Oblivion's quests, locations, and NPCs into Skyrim, we're going to hold our breath for a potential mod that sees Skyrim recreated in Oblivion Remastered.
