The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is real, and you can play it right this second. Or, you know, once you've downloaded it.
Following months of leaks, Bethesda and Xbox have officially confirmed the Oblivion Remastered alongside a surprise release.
This should make the wait for The Elder Scrolls VI a little easier to handle. At least for a little while.

Originally released in 2006, Oblivion is an underrated RPG that rarely gets shown as much love as the two Elder Scrolls on either side of it: Morrowind and Skyrim.
The long rumoured remaster has been developed between Bethesda, Bethesda Dallas and Bethesda Rockville, and Virtuos.
With Unreal Engine 5 powering the RPG, the world and characters have been completely overhauled. We're also getting tweaked gameplay mechanics and a shiny new UI.
Among gameplay changes we can expect an overhauled leveling system that's closer to Skyrim, as well as a new approach to combat that aims to make everything feel that much more tactile.

Better yet, the remaster is set to include all of the original DLC that was released after the OG game's launch.
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered is available on Steam and Xbox right now, and is free with Xbox Game Pass. It's also launched on PlayStation 5, which is a nice surprise.
