Assassin's Creed Shadows is being praised as the best Assassin's Creed game in years by fans of the series, which is just lovely to see.
In my own review of Assassin's Creed Shadows, I proclaimed it to be a new high bar for the franchise.
"Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t just one of the best games of the year so far, it’s the new yardstick by which all future Assassin’s Creed games should be measured," I wrote.

"This is an epic, sweeping adventure bolstered by jaw-dropping visuals and a masterful blend of stealth, action, and exploration. You don’t want to miss this one."
Now that gamers have had a few weeks with Ubisoft's latest open-world adventure, it seems the majority of fans largely agree with the many glowing critic reviews.
What are the fans saying about Assassin's Creed Shadows?
In one of the top posts on the Assassin's Creed subreddit right now, one fan has named Shadows as their new favourite game in the series, beating Odyssey.

This, I think, feeds into the general consensus around the game: which is that you'll get more out of it if you enjoyed the newer, RPG-style games. With that said, Shadows does offer a best-of-both-worlds approach that I think is really resonating.
"The shinobi part in the game is so amazing," one fan commented. "Granted I love Yasuke , but Naoe is sooo fun to play."
Another fan responded, showing their support for Yasuke: "For me, Yasuke is a lot of fun to play. I thought I wouldn't play him as much at first, because he is limited a lot by not being able to parkour. But he's such a massive tank, that sometimes running into a castle and just going ham feels very satisfying."
"Well I have 100 hours in Odyssey over the years and I'm at 88hrs in Shadows and it hasn't been a month," a third gamer wrote.

With strong reviews from critics and fans, plus some impressive sales numbers, it's clear Shadows has landed properly. Something something go woke go broke, right?
