Ubisoft has landed a winner with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, earning great critical reception and a hefty player count.
Fans who preordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows were entitled to a bonus mission in-game, along with an upcoming expansion, however, many are split on whether it was a good deal or not.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is available now on console and PC
Why? Because the preorder mission, ‘Thrown to the Dogs,’ is considered too short by many, clocking in at only five minutes in length.

You could make the argument that, for a freebie mission, the length shouldn’t really be all that important - it’s a bonus, after all.
However, some fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the bonus mission, splitting opinion.
“The bonus quest was all of 5 minutes…” complained one player.
“The "Thrown to the dogs" quest is f**king terrible,” exclaims another Twitter user.

I’ll be honest, scrolling through the Twitter replies, it’s hard to know who even played the mission, and who just wants to kick the developer.
Given the campaigns against Ubisoft, the developer themselves probably has no idea who is giving genuine feedback and who just wants to troll or poke at the creatives.
Thankfully, it’s not all doom and gloom, however, as one fan was happy with the extra quest, saying, “I honestly loved this quest so much. Had no idea it was part of a pre-order bonus or that it was related to additional content. Full of surprises.”
“Is it hard being so consistently awesome?” asks one user in what I hope is a genuine comment.

I’ve not had the chance to jump in and play Assassin’s Creed Shadows just yet, but I’m eager to give it a try after seeing so many players enjoying the game.
For a franchise that has been going for such a long time, it proves reinvention is possible and can be a success.
