What will you be playing this weekend?
I can highly recommend South of Midnight on Xbox and PC, and my colleague Ewan Moore recently awarded Blue Prince a perfect score of 10, also available on PC.
But, of course, many new releases will cost you a pretty penny; those on tighter budgets need not be left out though.

That’s why I’m here to bring Steel Hunters to your attention, a new free-to-play PvPvE shooter from Wargaming Group.
If you’re one of those people yearning for Titanfall 3 to be real, you may get a kick out of Steel Hunters.
Yes, you’ll get to wield a huge mech, battling it out alongside a partner against five other duo teams.
“Only one can extract from the Hunting Grounds,” teases the game’s synopsis.

You can take a look at Steel Hunters in action below.
“After a cataclysmic event, Hunters were created by mankind to safeguard the collection of an extraterrestrial resource crucial to human survival, known as Starfall,” it adds.
“Driven by ruthless factions, these fearsome mechanical giants have now become the key to dominate the scarce resource across the ruins of a green but abandoned Earth.”

You’ll be able to select from a number of different play styles but regardless of what you choose, it’s of paramount importance that duos work together.
Only those who achieve synergy are likely to succeed, devs warn.
Together, you’ll have to put together a tactical plan, deciding whether to face a threat headfirst or stealthily outmaneuver your opponents.
You’ll be able to smash through buildings as you traverse the game’s environment - and don’t forget that you’ll be facing in-world threats as well as other players.

Steel Hunters entered early access last week and, I’ll admit, it launched to mixed reviews.
I think it’s worth remembering that early access is designed for this very reason, to iron out any kinks.
And Steel Hunters is free, so I reckon it’s well worth a go still.
In fact, many players have praised its gameplay but have concerns over the game’s monetisation.

It’ll be interesting to see how developers respond to that.
