Markiplier has a new venture. The YouTube star is set to adapt a classic horror game into a film - adding yet another video game adaptation to the ever-growing list.
HBO’s The Last of Us certainly set the bar high at the beginning of this year with many hailing it as the ‘greatest video game adaptation of all-time’. While critically panned, The Super Mario Bros. Movie then managed to find success with cinemagoers, going on to have the biggest opening ever for an animated film. God of War (2018) director Cory Balrog has said he’s already feeling the pressure in regards to Amazon’s upcoming God of War series. We’ve also got a Ghost of Tsushima film on the way, a Fallout TV series, and an Assassin’s Creed project at Netflix. That’s just to name a few. Now we can add Markiplier’s latest venture to that list.
We interviewed The Super Mario Bros. Movie star Anya Taylor-Joy. Take a look below.
As reported by PC Gamer, YouTuber Markiplier - real name Mark Fischbach - is planning on directing and starring in an adaptation of Iron Lung. Released last year, Iron Lung was created by Dusk developer David Szymanski. The first-person immersion horror sees players control an unnamed convict who must explore an ocean of blood in a submarine known as Iron Lung. Seeing as the protagonist is completely silent, it’ll be interesting to see what Markiplier does with the script.
Advert
According to Deadline, Markiplier is self-financing the film and will star in the project alongside actress Caroline Kaplan (The Plot Against America). Will Hyde and Jeff Guerrero are on board as producers.
Seemingly, David Szymanski may have teased the project back in February. When someone asked, “Iron Lung movie when?”, Szymanski replied, “This summer. Starring Markiplier as John Iron Lung and Jacksepticeye as The Fish.” It awaits to be seen if the Jacksepticeye casting and summer release is actually true.
