The Star Wars galaxy is vast, beautiful and full of wonders, but it’s also terrifying to live in unless you’re a main character.
Monsters, pirates, Sith lords, are all beings you could probably bump into on your way to the shops, a terrifying existence so it’s remarkable that we haven’t had a horror-themed Star Wars film yet.
There’s nothing scarier to a Star Wars fan than good writing though, just look at the reception to The Acolyte…
I jest of course but it sounds like Star Wars is finally going to go all-in on the horror element, according to Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy that is.

At the premiere for Andor Season 2 Tony Gilroy was asked by Business Insider what a horror project in the Star Wars galaxy could look like.
Gilroy replied as if one was already in the works, saying “They’re doing that. I think they’re doing that … I think that’s in the works, yeah.”
Now perhaps the showrunner misspoke, or perhaps we’re finally going to see the more supernatural side of the Star Wars series.
Until it’s confirmed take it with a pinch of salt but it is Star Wars Celebration this week so you never know, perhaps something will get announced.

It makes you wonder what it could look like though, as there are plenty of options when it comes to spooky and mysterious settings and characters.
The Witches of Dathomir would be a great shout, really diving into the magic of the Star Wars galaxy and how it differs from the force.
What I’d really love to see though is a film or Disney+ series that centers on a cruiser being attacked by Star Weirds. These are mysterious creatures that live in hyperspace and it’s said ships that encounter them come out of hyperspace completely empty, very cool.
