It still stings that Star Wars: The Acolyte won’t get to continue and develop the tease of Darth Plagueis, that we saw in the show’s final episodes.
We finally got a chance to explore one of the biggest mysteries and legends of the Star Wars universe, and it got cancelled, leaving us with little to go on.
The Acolyte was due to shed more light on the history of the dark side
For us to learn more about the Sith lord, who was name dropped back in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, we have to look to books and comics.

The dark side of the force is shrouded in secrets, and we have no clues as to the origins and teachings of it.
To find out who the master of Darth Plagueis was, we need to look at a book called Build the Millennium Falcon.
According to the writing there, it was Darth Tenebrous who taught Plagueis, and nurtured his darkness.
This nugget of information was gleaned from Reddit, where one user wanted to know more about the sith.

In reply, InfiniteDedekindCuts says, “I'm not really sure how "Canon" Build the Millennium Falcon really is. He's also mentioned in the TROS visual dictionary.”
They continue, “There was 100% a Sith named Tenebrous at some point. And I think it's safe to assume that he was Plagueis's master until something comes along that contradicts that.”
So much of the earlier history of the Star Wars universe is no longer canon, since the Disney buyout, and much of the information is what could have been, rather than what is.
Which is why The Acolyte ending, and leaving that thread hanging, is even worse, as we could have got more information on the dark side of the force.

All we really know is the Plaugueis likely taught Palpatine, and Plagueis must have had a master, and we all assume it’s Tenebrous.
