As the Marvel Cinematic Universe gears up to introduce Phase Six, fans are left feeling disappointed over the news of one highly-anticipated release being cancelled.
It has been one hell of a run but Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to an end with The Fantastic Four: First Steps set to kick off Phase Six when it arrives in cinemas on 25 July, 2025.
Check out Blade in action in the trailer below!
Despite the new Phase not beginning just yet, multiple movies and television shows are already set to be released with some notable mentions being Avengers: Doomsday on 1 May, 2026 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day on 31 July, 2026.

Fans are looking forward to seeing a bunch of brand-new superheroes join their favourites as they face threats from all across the Multiverse.
However, it is one much-loved character that will be absent after their movie was unceremoniously cancelled.
Of course, I am talking about Marvel’s Blade.
The original Blade movie starring Wesley Snipes was released back in 1998 but a reboot featuring Mahershala Ali in the titular role was announced back in 2019.

However, the movie which was supposedly planned for a November 2023 release and then delayed to November 2025, has now seemingly been cancelled after it was removed from Marvel’s release schedule.
It is disappointing news for fans, especially those who have loved Blade’s story since the 90s and it is even more heartbreaking for one DJ and rapper.
According to Steven Ellison, more commonly known as the singer Flying Lotus or FlyLo, he was set to work on the Blade reboot before it was cancelled.
“I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now but. Yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell through,” he posted over on Twitter this week.

“Maybe it’ll come around again but I doubt it. Would have been fun though.”
It wasn’t long before fans offered their support, as well as lamenting over the possibility of an epic reboot.
“Damn, FlyLo scoring a Blade movie would've been wild!” One user commented.
“Your vibes with that dark, futuristic sound would've been perfect. Sucks it fell through, but never say never—Hollywood's weird like that.”

Another added, “I can believe it fell through, the only superhero movie I want to watch.”
It is sad news indeed but hopefully the Blade reboot will rear its head again in the future. Here’s hoping!
