Beheading and mounting heads on sticks is by no means a new thing but there is no denying that the “trend” was brought back to the forefront courtesy of Game of Thrones.
As early as season one of the hit HBO show, we got to see Sean Bean’s head mounted on a parapet courtesy of Joffrey Baratheon and his was by no means the only loose head we saw during the eight seasons of Game of Thrones.
See the brothers in action in the trailer for Thor: Ragnarök below!
Now it seems as though Marvel has taken some inspiration from the show with a beloved character getting the headless treatment in a new release.

“Time to topple another of the Maker's dominoes: removing LOKI from his seat of power in Asgard! Thor, Sif and She-Hulk journey into mystery for blood, for glory and for rebellion, and discover a surprising new ally!”
With Loki now ruling over the Nine Realms, his influence is everywhere but when Thor and Sif finally infiltrate his kingdom, they make a startling discovery as they approach the God of Mischief himself.
In Asgard’s throne room, we see Loki sat on the stolen throne and next to him, with his head mounted on a spear, is none other than Odin who Loki had killed after usurping him.
Loki keeps Odin’s head close to him at all times and the page reads: “At his right side Odin’s severed head, stinking, saintly, speared.

“Shouting nonsense, portents, nightmare preserved from germs with herbs and verbs.”
It is a startling scene to say the least but unsurprising based on Loki’s previous exploits.
