Bucky Barnes has always been my absolute favourite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and no, it’s not because he’s handsome.
Although, of course, I’m not complaining about the fact that that is very true.
Bucky is such a complex character, offering both light and shade, and it’s why I cannot wait to see more of him in next year’s Thunderbolts*.

I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t hoping to see Bucky also appear in Captain America: Brave New World.
Sebastian Stan isn’t on the cast list, but I find it hard to believe that Bucky and Sam aren’t going to check in on one another given their friendship.
Perhaps Bucky will surface in a post-credits stinger, leading us into Thunderbolts*.
With Thunderbolts* holding its cards close to its chest, we don’t know all that much about what’s keeping Bucky so preoccupied.

Sebastian Stan has surfaced though to tease two potential projects beyond Thunderbolts* although I should stress that this is far more of a personal wishlist than anything confirmed by the MCU’s Kevin Feige.
Take a look at the trailer for Thunderbolts* below.
During an appearance at Comic Con Liverpool, as reported by Superhero Hype, Sebastian revealed that he’d love to star in “a prequel before Captain America: The First Avenger, so we could really learn, maybe more about their [Bucky and Steve Rogers] friendship. Their relationship.”

The only issue is that neither of the characters would’ve taken the super soldier serum at that point in time, so I’m not sure a period piece about the two friends would really land with Marvel’s executives, as pleasant as it sounds.
It wasn’t the actor’s only idea though.
“Or we can even do a prequel to before Captain America: The Winter Soldier where we’re actually seeing what happened, you know, with him. We never really explore that,” he began.
“We always see him towards the very end of his Winter Soldier Arc. But when he had this other double life, you know, where, I don’t know, he taught like [Scarlett Johansson’s] Black Widow how to be Black Widow.”

“I mean it might be interesting to see, again if you guys are interested, we’ll see,” he continued.
Now that sounds far more likely - plus it would be great to see Scarlett back on screen too.
We’ll have to wait and see if any such plans actually come to fruition.
