If you could have heard the squeal of joy that came out of my mouth when I saw the leaked screenshots for the TES: Oblivion remaster, you’d have thought a small girl was scared by a mouse.
I’m not the only one. Legions of fans saw the leaks and were thrown back in time to the sheer brilliance of The Elder Scrolls, which was, for many, their first taste of a big Bethesda RPG.
It's been seven years since The Elder Scrolls 6 was teased
The remaster isn’t just huge news for fans of the original, but for those looking forward to The Elder Scrolls VI, which is currently cooking at Bethesda.

The remaster is made by Virtuos, and utilises Unreal Engine 5 to pretty up what came before, but Bethesda will still have had a hand in the game and its improvements.
Over on Reddit, once news dropped, fans were quick to heap praise on the screenshots, and build some hope for the future.
“I just hope everything that made the game so charming still exists,” pleads findingdumb.
“The game looks fantastic,” said J0EPNG, who continued by saying, “I'm ready to sink hundreds of hours into this, LMAO.”

They later said, in a different reply, “I'm just grateful that they're giving us something to enjoy in the downtime till TESVI.”
They aren’t the only fan who is excited, as this user expressed, “Out of all the Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion was my favorite of the bunch with Skyrim a close second. Looking forward to it.”
Redditor aazakii further builds hype for The Elder Scrolls VI by saying, “this being released now, 3 years after the planned release, shown in the FTC leaked documents, gives even more credence to ESVI coming in 2027.”
I’m just excited to play Oblivion again, with updated visuals, and if it means Bethesda is kicking into gear for The Elder Scrolls VI, then all the better.
