If you weren’t already excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, you definitely should be. The finale of the trilogy is set to hit cinemas on 5 May, and according to critics, it’s a genuinely fantastic time.
A few hours ago, reviewers who’ve already had the chance to watch the film (I'm not jealous at all) began posting their initial impressions on Twitter, and it sounds like it’s a real return to form for Marvel.
Take a look at the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 below.
Senior reporter for Gizmodo and io9, Germain Lussier, tweeted: “Simply incredible. I can’t imagine Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being a more perfect ending to James Gunn’s trilogy. Every payoff, every emotion, every character journey. It’s about as good as Marvel movies get. Funny, poignant, exciting, I want to watch it again right now.”

Meanwhile, Inverse’s executive editor, Jake Kleinman, wrote: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the best Marvel movie in years. Perfect blend of humour, heart, and action with an epic third act that doesn’t devolve into CGI mush. Will Poulter is a legend."
TikTok movie critic Teejay McFly continued the praise, writing: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a fitting finale to the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. THE MOST EMOTIONAL MARVEL MOVIE YET. Tons of heart, action, and comedy. ROCKET RACCOON, THAT IS ALL. We also get, [in my opinion], the best MCU action sequence outside of an Avengers film.”
To wrap things up, The Direct’s industry relations coordinator and writer Russ Milheim said: “Trust that I’m not being hyperbolic when I say, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one of the best MCU films to date. It’s truly incredible. A deeply emotional story that perfectly utilises all of its characters in the best ways. The comedic balance has never been better.”
Honestly, I don’t think that things could sound any more promising than that. We’ll have to judge for ourselves when the film releases next week.
