The Grand Theft Auto game that’s not really a Grand Theft Auto game was shown off during last night’s PlayStation State Of Play showcase, and it looks bloody good.
It comes from Rockstar North's Leslie Benzies, the original creator of the Grand Theft Auto series but has no relation to the series.
See the trailer for the game below
From the footage we saw during the PlayStation showcase you can see the inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto series though, as driving around an open-world and blasting goons is going to be a massive part of the game.

We also saw some Cyberpunk 2077-style visuals though, as the game is set in a futuristic world with enhanced technology and killer robots.
It looks very weird in a good way, and the story sounds like it’ll be a real blockbuster so check out the trailer for it if you haven’t already.
The story itself follows "a former soldier fitted with The MindsEye, a mysterious neural implant that haunts him with fragmented memories of a covert mission that changed his life forever."
Now given the game’s roots many are pinning this game as a competitor to GTA VI, something that definitely won’t be the case as despite coming from a former Rockstar employee they’re very different games for very different audiences.

There’s scope to enjoy both games separately, and even if they were competing it’s obvious GTA VI would win automatically has it has the reputation and the hype already sorted.
Nevertheless, MindsEye looks like an interesting and trippy time, and worth checking out alongside the other sweet AAA games releasing this year.
Hopefully it lives up to the hype of the trailer and delivers on the story, as if it’s a banger we might be able to expect a sequel or spin-off of some kind.
