As it stands, Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to launch some time in fall of 2025.
However, with past entries being no stranger to various delays, it is no wonder that fans are scared that believing the 2025 release date may be a bit too optimistic.
Now thanks to recent comments by ex-Rockstar employee Obbe Vermeij, these worries have increased tenfold.

Check out the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer below!
Best known for his work as the technical director on the early Grand Theft Auto titles before leaving Rockstar in 2009, shortly before the release of GTA 4, Vermeij has some idea about the inner workings of the studio.
That is why he has offered some insight into how Grand Theft Auto VI is being handled so far.

He explained that delays are commonplace but can’t be announced until closer to the release date. This happened back with the release of GTA IV.
"The decision to delay GTA 4 was made four months or so before the original release date," says Vermeij.
"Any further and it's hard to make the call. Rockstar is probably not in a position to determine whether they will hit 2025 until May-ish."
He explained that GTA IV simply “wasn’t ready yet” so it “would have been a mess”.

However, with GTA VI way ahead in terms of technological advancement, fans hope this means there will be less problems closer to launch.
Surely.
According to Vermeij, Rockstar has no such worries.
"GTA 6 will sell for 10+ years and there is no competition to worry about," says Vermeij.

"They are not noing to release the game until they're 100% happy with it. No matter what it says in the trailer."
However, the outlook for PC owners is less bright.
"2027 for [PC owners] I'm afraid," jokes Vermeij.
As you can imagine, fans were left reeling by this response but surely he is joking… right?

If Vermeij is correct, then we have just a few months left to see if Grand Theft Auto VI will receive another delay so fingers crossed it doesn’t.
