Just in case you hadn’t already got your fill of God of War with the release of Ragnarök, the TV adaptation is finally on the horizon.
That’s right, we knew that it was coming for some time, but just this week it was officially confirmed that the God of War TV show is in the works for Amazon Prime Video. While details are light on the ground right now, we know that the series will launch straight into the Norse saga (which kicked off with 2018’s God of War), so things should be very familiar for those who’ve played the most recent games.
We don’t know who’ll be playing Kratos in the series yet - fingers crossed it won’t be Ben Stiller, who starred in this slightly cursed ad for God of War Ragnarök.
“God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling,” Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “We are honoured to share in the adventure of exploring the God of War mythology in such a momentous way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio.”

While no official casting choices have been announced yet, two familiar faces from the game series have already made it known that they’d love to be a part of the show. On Twitter, Atreus’ motion capture and voice actor Sunny Suljic said: “I swear to God if I don’t get booked for this… Unless I’m too old now I guess?”
As PlayStation LifeStyle reports, Freya’s actor in the games, Danielle Bisutti, replied to Suljic, simply saying: “I FEEL THAT SUNNY.” Clearly, she’d be very enthusiastic about reprising her role, and there’s no doubt that fans would love to see the cast from the game make it onto the show.
Fingers crossed we’ll get some updates soon - I’m still hoping that Christopher Judge will be stepping back into Kratos’ big boots again.
