We’re living in the golden age of video game adaptations.
Although, you do have to overlook Borderlands. That’s one adaptation that harkens back to our very, very dark history.
Instead, I urge you to direct your attention to the likes of Fallout and The Last of Us.

Then there’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Twisted Metal, Sonic The Hedgehog … things are definitely looking up.
All we can hope is that with some beloved IPs soon set to receive the adaptation treatment that this winning streak continues.
Netflix’s Horizon Zero Dawn prequel may have kicked the bucket, but Sony’s God of War live-action TV series remains in the works at Prime Video - and fans know exactly who they want to play Kratos.
Kratos was last seen in 2023’s free DLC God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla. Take a look at the DLC in action below.
It’s been around two years since the TV show was announced, and we still know very little about it.

God of War is set to be written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Children of Men), with The Wheel of Time’s Rafe Judkins serving as showrunner.
God of War game director Cory Barlog will also be on hand as an executive producer, so we should receive a fairly faithful adaptation.
It’s confirmed that the TV series will simply retell the story of the 2018 game but the topic of casting has not been addressed.
Fans are very vocal about the fact that they’d love to see Christopher Judge return to the role - having portrayed Kratos in the two most recent games.

“I really just wanna see Christopher Judge play Kratos in the God of War series,” wrote Reddit user Ayhem-M.
“Christopher Judge is the best actor to play God Of War in the TV series. The reason I’m saying this is because he has the voice, he has the physique and he knows Kratos way more than any other actor,” added gheewala123.
Judge certainly has the IRL physical presence of Kratos, so I can see why fans are lobbying for this casting - and even Judge himself has shown interest in taking on the live-action role.
Then again, many other game adaptations have opted to have game stars feature in a cameo role so at this point, it’s very hard to say what’s in store.

Let’s hope that casting news isn’t too far away.
