With The Elder Scrolls being the topic of conversation lately thanks to the arrival of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, talk has once again returned to the future of the franchise.
More specifically, The Elder Scrolls VI.
It has been many years since we received our first and only official look at The Elder Scrolls VI.
Despite first being announced back in 2018, Bethesda is seemingly taking its time with the next The Elder Scrolls instalment by offering fans just a brief teaser trailer over six years ago.

Other than that, news of its development has remained a mystery other than confirmation that it was still in the works during Bethesda’s livestream for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered earlier this month.
As a result, fans have had to rely on speculation and rumours surrounding the highly-anticipated release and one area of conversation has focused on the potential map size for TES VI.
Despite no confirmation from Bethesda, the majority of fans believe that the next TES instalment will feature our biggest map yet.
However, one user over on r/TESVI has expressed confusion over where this rumour originated.

“Where does the belief that it will be High Rock AND Hammerfell come from? How did that rumour start?,” user cormundo asked this weekend.
According to fellow user LegateZanUjcic, the rumour originated on some old The Elder Scrolls forums where it was rumoured that TES VI would feature a much larger map than the one found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
“Basically, for TES VI to be bigger than Skyrim, while still keeping things at a similar scale, they'd have to do two provinces,” the user explained.
“Daggerfall already had parts of High Rock and Hammerfell, so TES VI having both provinces and being sort of a spiritual sequel to Daggerfall made sense.”

However, the idea of having multiple reasons has left some fans feeling concerned.
“I’d quietly love for them to do a game entirely set in one city,” user aednrw added.
“Like not even a big one, necessarily - just a realistically-sized thousand-person settlement or something. It’d feel huge if done at their usual level of detail.”
It remains to be seen where The Elder Scrolls VI will take place but if Bethesda have plans to go big, let us hope it will remain as detailed as its previous instalments and is not left feeling empty.
