The Elder Scrolls 6 map size has fans divided

Where will the future take us?

Earlier this week saw Bethesda fans receive the worst kept secret in gaming history: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

However, Bethesda also took 0.2 seconds to assure us that The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in active development despite updates being scarce.

That being said, that was all the information we received but with fans excited to dive into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, it seems as though the developers were let off the hook.

Nevertheless, now that the excitement has worn off, fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise have turned their attention back to its future with the arrival of TES VI (if it should ever arrive, that is).

More specifically, they have been wondering about the map and how big it will actually be.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed, some fans believe that it will be the biggest yet but others hope it won’t as this could lead to it feeling a lot emptier than previous instalments.

A discussion recently kicked off over on r/TESVI with one user asking, “How big do you think the TES VI map will be and what part of Tamriel will it take up? And what would you personally like?”

With Tamriel consisting of multiple different regions, TES VI could take us anywhere and fans soon descended to share their thoughts in the comments.

For user CrimsonFlareGun45, they believe that the base game will take place on High Rock and Hammerfell but subsequent DLCs will take the player to the Yokuda area with DLC #2 finishing up in the Sea of Pearls.

However, user DemiserofD has altered this theory slightly.

“I'll be a bit surprised if we see Yokuda. It's a weird place, and Hammerfell is already weird. I'm expecting more traditional fantasy, perhaps tinged with nostalgia,” they shared.

“Base game includes Hammerfell and most of High Rock, as well as coastlines of Cyrodiil, Valenwood, and Summerset Isle.

DLC 1 will be a return to Cyrodiil; you get to go back to the trade city of Anvil, as well as expansions to the ship content of the base game.

DLC 2 is the largest DLC, and will feature for the first time the province of Valenwood, home of the Elves. Long repressed by the High Elves of the Aldmeri Dominion, the Green Pact is threatening to burst forth in a cannibalistic and bloody rebellion.

The player will need to head deep into the ancient forest and find the home of these more barbaric elves to either kill them or find a way to peace.”

This would be ambitious but would definitely be worth it for fans both old and new.

Now with the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered released into the world, let us hope that this means Bethesda is going all hands on deck with The Elder Scrolls VI.
