An unexpected Steam game is a “10/10” and is free to download right now. So, what are you waiting for?
The indie gaming scene is arguably more vibrant today than it ever has been, and that’s taken into account that indie gaming has been on a roll for years already. Free from the shackles of AAA publisher interference, indie devs can pretty much create and release what they want.

In 2025 alone, we’ve been treated to some absolute indie bangers such as Look Outside, Blue Prince, Citizen Sleeper 2 and much more. It really is a great time to be a fan of indie gaming.

In our review of Blue Prince, GAMINGbible’s Ewan said: “It’s an endlessly captivating labyrinth of twists and turns, with a world that will crawl inside your head and refuse to leave until you’ve finally wrestled its final secrets into submission. And believe me: it’ll take you a while to do that.”
One other indie game that has taken the video game industry by storm recently, is one released at the very end of 2024 called Schedule 1.
At the time of writing, according to Steamdb, Schedule 1 has achieved an incredible concurrent player number of 459,075.
“Jump into the streets of Hyland Point and take the first steps from small-time dope pusher to kingpin,” reads the synopsis of Schedule 1 on Steam. “Manufacture and distribute a range of drugs to reach the peak of the underworld.”

Currently, Schedule 1 has a user rating of “Overwhelmingly Positive” taken from just under 11,500 reviews. So it’s fair to say that this unexpected indie delight is worth your consideration.
“At first, you think it's just a game, but then you catch yourself picking up trash for 20 minutes because why not clean up the street to make a few bucks? 10/10,” declared Steam user HodagHunter.
Typically priced at a modest £16.75, you can get a “free sample” of Schedule 1 courtesy of its playable demo right now. But be warned, once you’ve had a taste, you’re probably going to get hooked.
Schedule 1 is out now on PC.
