Star Wars fans have just figured out how big the age gap was between Padme and Anakin, and it admittedly does put a little bit of an odd spin on that first meeting…
Christ, this is the type of article that’s gonna annoy certain corners of the internet whatever I say. I gotta lock in and write this like a Wikipedia entry.
Ok, so, over on the r/StarWars subreddit, one user had a very simple question: “How much older is Padme than Anakin?”

I can tell you the answer to that right now. When Anakin and Padme met on Tatooine during the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, he was nine years old and she was fourteen.
While on paper that might imply something truly sketchy could have taken place, it’s actually not as bad as it sounds (let me finish, Twitter).
In between their first meeting on Tatooine and their second meeting during the events of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, ten whole years passed.
Although Anakin states that he often thought of Padme during this time, they never actually met. From what I can tell, they never actually communicated in any way, either. If there’s some non-canon issue of a comic nobody read that disproves this, shut up because I haven’t heard of it.

That means that by the time anything romantic actually mutually developed between the two, Anakin was 19 and Padme was 24.
I have no opinion regarding this. Thankfully, the folks in the comments do.
“Only 5 years, too many people think that age gap is "creepy" but Han and Leia are like 9-10 years apart... Both are totally ok to me, just curious why ones ok and other is bad,” commented user Nova_Force_99.
“5 years, which sounds like a way bigger gap when he’s under 10 and she’s a teenager. Less of an issue when they’re both adults,” replied the account of a deleted user. Do not read into this.

And that’s that! Phew. We got through it, folks… wait, what do you mean Han was 30 when he met a 19-year-old Leia? Oh no, Indiana Jones was in his late 20s and Marion was 15 when they started seeing each other during Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Right, that’s it, the article is over. Go home. I’m not touching that with a ten-foot barge pole.
