A decade on from the release of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a sequel has finally arrived - and it’s available to check out right now. There is one catch though. It perhaps isn’t the straightforward sequel you’ve got in mind.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was one of the best-selling games of 2013, and was the first game in the series to utilise naval exploration as a key part of its gameplay. It’s one of the franchise’s better instalments. Earlier this month, Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple was officially announced. The direct follow-up will continue Edward Kenway’s story and it’s available to check out now. That catch I mentioned? This sequel comes in the form of a comic book series as opposed to a brand new game.
Who’s excited for this year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage? Take a look at the trailer below.
Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple follows Kenway as he journeys to find the Pieces of Eden throughout the Southeast Asian seas after being fully integrated into the Assassin Brotherhood. The series is also set to introduce a Korean-American descendent of Edward, called Noa. Forgotten Temple is a WEBTOON series, which is essentially an online comic site.

In total, there will be a whopping 150 episodes published across three seasons. The first six episodes are officially out now so you can finally continue Kenway’s story over on the WEBTOON website.
Speaking about the sequel, Ubisoft’s director of global TV and transmedia business development Julien Fabre said, “We are thrilled to expand the Assassin’s Creed series to WEBTOON thanks to this amazing collaboration with WEBTOON and REDICE STUDIO. We’ve been working hard with the talented folks at REDICE to craft this original Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag sequel and hope that existing fans and new readers around the world will enjoy it.” New episodes are released weekly.
