It’s the moment that Spider-Man fans have been waiting for. Well, kind of, because it’s just the announcement of the title for the next Marvel and Sony film.
But that’s still great news, because now we can all start speculating about the plot details for the new film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and how it will impact the MCU.
The last time we saw Spidey in his own film was No Way Home
Tom Holland stepped onto stage at CinemaCon to announce the next Spider-Man film title, and gave us a little tease alongside it.

Speaking to those in attendance, Holland said, “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home… so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.”
I bet you’re wondering what kind of fresh start are we talking about?
Are all the old characters from the previous trilogy unlikely to appear? Will Spider-Man have a new love interest?
Well, I don’t know. What I do know is that there is a Spider-Man comic actually called Brand New Day, which leads everyone to think that the film will adapt some of the plot from there.

If you don’t want to know what these details could be, I advise you to look away now.
So, Brand New Day came out of the 2006 Civil War storyline, where Peter Parker’s secret identity was revealed to the world, and it was a soft reboot of the franchise.
In the story, which was incredibly controversial at the time, Spidey and MJ make a pact with Demon Lord Mephisto to erase their romantic history to save Aunt May’s life.
Of course, the Spidey films have already killed off Aunt May, and MJ no longer knows who Peter Parker is, so the name of the film might just hint at the reboot, and fresh start.

It’s unlikely that Marvel will throw away the last three films though, so we’re sure to see some returning faces, and the film takes place between Avengers: DOOMSDAY and Avengers: Secret War, so this could all be an incursion/multiverse that will eventually crumble to dust.
The film will release on 31 July, 2026.
