Marvel's new Black Panther sequel breaks unfortunate MCU record

Marvel's new Black Panther sequel breaks unfortunate MCU record

A record Ironheart did not want

The very first glimpse of Marvel’s new Black Panther sequel for the MCU has broken an unfortunate record that it most certainly did not want.

Last week, Marvel released an awesome trailer celebrating its 85th birthday featuring the likes of Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America and much more. Everything from the MCU to comics was celebrated, largely made famous by the late great Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Check out the 85 Years of Marvel trailer below!

The 85 Years of Marvel trailer gave us teases of upcoming projects such as Thunderbolt, and Captain America: New World Order and even seemingly hinted at the prospect of the Agent Carter series being revived.

The trailer also gave us a quick first glimpse (2:09 minutes in) of the new live-action series coming to Disney Plus, Ironheart which was first announced during Disney Investor Day in 2020. Ironheart will serve as a sequel to the 2022 movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and will star Dominique Throne as Riri Williams.

Riri Williams made her debut in Marvel Comics Invincible Iron Man #7 in 2016 and following Wakanda Forever, many fans are eager to see how Riri will succeed in a series in which she stars in the leading role.

However, as reported by The Direct, it’s been a troublesome road for Ironheart to get where it is today following multiple delays with its first trailer tease, because it’s the first MCU project that has taken longer than two years to get to this point from when it first started filming in May 2022.

Behind Ironheart, Avengers: Endgame is in second place with its filming starting in April 2017 to its first trailer released in December 2018, a 20-month gap. Avengers: Endgame would later be released in April 2019.

Ironheart does not have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, but it is expected to launch on Disney Plus sometime in late 2025.
