Marvel fans united over perfect X-Men recast

Marvel fans united over perfect X-Men recast

Could this be the right pick?

The future is looking bright for Marvel fans with the MCU welcoming more and more familiar faces.

With Deadpool & Wolverine showing just how successful a Marvel and X-Men collaboration really is, it is no wonder that talk has already turned to what the future of the MCU could look like.

Released back in July, Deadpool & Wolverine found itself dominating the box office with fans of both Wade and Logan flocking to cinemas to see the unlikely pair come together courtesy of Shawn Levy.

Now that the hype is finally slowing down, attention has turned to what could be next and fans over on r/MCUTheories have seemingly united over one possible casting.

“Just hear me out here. The next Shadowcat,” one user posted.

“This doesn't work if they do the teenage Kitty Pryde. But if they do the adult version, it would be awesome.”

According to them, they would like to see actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead take on the role of Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde, or Shadowcat.

First appearing in The Uncanny X-Men #129 back in 1980, Kitty is a mutant who has the ability to pass through objects as well as simulate levitation.

In the X-Men film series, Kitty was most notably played by Elliot Page in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

However, it seems Winstead is a popular choice for the future of the role.

“Marvel has alluded to introducing Shadowcat as a teenager/student”, one comment read.

“I think that’s a smart idea, but Winstead would be a good casting for an adult Kitty.”

“She can do anything. I approve,” another said.

Winstead has plenty of roles under her belt with more notable parts including Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka and Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

How she would fare joining the MCU, however, is a different story entirely.
