Following months of speculation, it looks like we have final proof that the long-rumoured remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is real - and it looks incredible.
A series of leaked images comparing the original game to the remaster have started doing the rounds on social media (thanks, VGC).
In the screenshots, which you can see below, there's a clear upgrade in terms of visuals. Previous reports suggested The Elder Scrolls remaster would be using Unreal Engine 5. This certainly looks to be the case.

The leaked images were taken from the Virtuos website, the studio previously rumoured to have been working on the remaster. The website also claims the game's full title is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and is being developed between Bethesda, Bethesda Dallas and Bethesda Rockville, as well as Virtuos.
Better yet, the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 as well as PC and Xbox Series consoles, though Xbox gamers are set to get the sweetest deal thanks to a Game Pass launch.

It's also been suggested that the changes to Oblivion go beyond the cosmetic.
A report from MP1ST says combat has undergone something of a Souls-like retooling, with improvements to the game's blocking system.
The stamina system has also been changed to "be less frustrating for the player, making the knockdown that occurs when stamina is depleted more difficult to activate through changes in calculation methods."
The HUD has also reportedly received a fresh lick of paint to bring it up to modern standards.

No word on a release date yet, but multiple insiders have insisted for weeks now that an April stealth drop is certain. Hard to argue with them now.
