It’s fair to say that recently, the MCU has not quite reached the heights it once did leading up to the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Though to be fair, the conclusion of the Infinity Saga was always going to be a tough act to follow.

The most recent movie in the MCU is Captain America: Brave New World which was released in cinemas on 14 February 2025 and achieved a mixed score of 79% from critics and just 49% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
Many Marvel, Disney and fans alike will all be hoping that the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps will receive more positive reviews across the board, otherwise, could we see an MCU reboot?

“It's a very difficult thing to do to a living, breathing fictional universe to just start from scratch because of all the fan investment and love for the stories that have come so far,” said Daredevil: Born Again executive producer Brad Winderbaum, when asked about a potential reboot of the MCU.
“I think the MCU should not reboot because its generation of legacy characters are gone. They should continue to develop new characters,” horc00 continued. “A full reboot only makes sense if and only if, the general audiences completely lose interest in them.”
“The closest thing to a hard reboot I have ever seen in the comic was Ultimate Marvel to Ultimate Universe,” replied eBICgamer2010. “ And that's it.”
“Full reboot, no. But the MCU would be smart to refocus its efforts on six to ten main characters and have them interact with each other and the ancillary characters both new and old, so the stories are tighter,” knowslesthanjonsnow suggested.

“Whaddaya know, they're taking their own advice from Deadpool and Wolverine,” said Actual_Toyland_F.
“When all the best actors have been used up and our favourite characters age themselves out, just have Franklin Richards restart the universe so it’s a reboot but in-universe,” explained thedjswivel.
We’ll likely get an MCU reboot at some point but it’s probably going to be quite a few years away, perhaps at least until after Avengers: Secrets Wars which doesn't arrive until 2027.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases in cinemas on 25 July 2025.
