Marvel fans are still reeling from the cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday last week, but a few missing faces have been deemed disappointing.
Last week, Marvel told us all to “take a seat” for a five hour casting announcement for the next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday.
Plenty of familiar faces were revealed, included some of the cast from the upcoming Thunderbolts film, which is interesting to say the least.
Aside from obvious heroes like Thor and Black Panther returning to our screens, a number of characters from the Fox X-Men universe were revealed to be coming back too, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and James Marsden’s Cyclops.

Out of all the names shown off though, two obvious ones were missing, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and their absence has caused some stir amongst fans.
“How do you feel that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman aren't confirmed to be coming back for Avengers Doomsday?” asked Reddit user Stormtrooper579, remarking how Channing Tatum is confirmed to be in the film presumably as Gambit again.
Tatum’s Gambit made his first appearance in Deadpool &Wolverine, so it’s weird that he’s back when the two main protagonists are not.
“I’m of the opinion that not everyone was revealed,” theorised one fan, and given how big Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars is going to be, that’s probably right on the money.

“A lot of characters appeared in Endgame that were not in IW. They have to tell a story. It’s not just gonna be a three hour cameo fest,” added another.
“Let's remember that Doomsday is Part 1 to Secret Wars' Part 2,” said someone else, “There's a better reason to wait and use them for Battleworld.”
It does feel like a lot of characters are being held back for a surprise later; I mean Spider-Man and Doctor Strange are huge characters in the MCU right now and that casting would have us believe they’re not in it. Let's stay tuned.
