A classic OG PlayStation title is now available for free through PlayStation Plus, but you may want to turn the lights on in your house before you download it (I promise that joke will make sense in like two paragraphs).
Thank you in advance to Push Square's Liam Croft for their article!
I bunch of titles just dropped on PlayStation Plus, but fans of PS1 horror games are in for an extra special treat this April.

That's because, as of last night, the classic 1996 Infogrames title Alone in the Dark 2 is now available for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
Look, I said the joke would make sense. I didn’t say it would actually be funny.
If you were hoping to play the classic 1992 MS-DOS release of the first Alone in the Dark before you hopped into the sequel, bad news: it’s not on PlayStation, let alone PlayStation Plus.
Good news: the fourth entry in the franchise (which kind of acts like a soft reboot), Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, is available through PlayStation Plus.

Now t,o clarify, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is the 2001 PS1 reboot of Alone in the Dark. It’s not the 2008 Alone in the Dark reboot. It’s also not the 2024 Alone in the Dark reboot. Confused yet? Because I am.
Sorry, just a side note, why do they keep rebooting this franchise? Who is asking for this? I know the original 1992 version of Alone in the Dark is good, but I don’t think that necessitates three separate reboots.
Anyway, Alone in the Dark 2 is decent, apparently. Well, decent for this franchise at least. The reviews were ok at the time, although I can’t imagine it’s aged particularly well.
See you back here in 2029 for the fourth Alone in the Dark reboot.
