Having saved the day yet again, with a little help from her friends, it seemed like Buffy Summers was done being the Chosen One.
Fast forward to 2025, and rumours of a reboot are circulating online.

After 22 years without the Hellmouth, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is set to bring back not just Sarah Michelle Gellar but many of the original cast as well.
As per Deadline, the new show will be directed by Chloé Zhao, the Oscar-winning director behind Eternals.
Zhao, a self-professed fan of the show, is reportedly directing the pilot episode while Lilla and Nora Zuckerman will write it.
Furthermore, the show is “nearing a pilot order from Hulu”.

ICYMI: The Last of Us returns to our TV screens this April.
The Deadline report also claims that a writers room will begin shortly.
For those curious about the involvement of Joss Whedon, the show's original creator, he's reportedly not working on this reboot. Given the previous misconduct allegations made against him, this will come as a huge relief to long-time fans of the show.

Other details regarding the series’ revival are extremely limited.
While it may come as a surprise to many, Gellar has teased a possible comeback before.
During the promo work for Dexter: Original Sin, Gellar spoke about the return of older shows and how it gets “your mind thinking”.
“Watching Sex & City and seeing Dexter, and realising there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ‘Well, maybe’.”
