With Marvel’s plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemingly up in the air after the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, rumours of who will head Avengers: Secret War are in full force.
Despite not expected to be released until at least 2027, Marvel fans are already looking forward to the revival of the Avengers. However, with the majority of its main cast now canonically dead, it remains to be seen what bunch of superheroes we will see team up. Luckily, we may already have a slight idea thanks to one insider.
Check out our interview with Marvel's Chris Judge below!
According to a post by MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter, we could see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Tom Holland's Spider-Man take on the lead roles in Avengers: Secret War. Additionally, in response to this Tweet, user CanWeGetSomeToast revealed that Jackman and Maguire will “be the two leads of the TVA’s (Time Variance Authority) multiversal army. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is the chosen one of the MCU.”

If this is true, this would see Holland’s Spider-Man take over as the poster boy of the franchise, replacing his former mentor Tony Stark/Iron Man. With Spider-Man taking somewhat of a backseat role in the previous Avengers movies, it will be interesting to see how different it will be with the web-crawler at the helm.
With rumours that the MCU will be receiving a reboot with the upcoming Avengers: Secret War, we could see the movies follow more closely to the original comic book material. Additionally, with recent reports that Marvel executives had considered bringing back characters such as Iron Man and Black Widow for an original Avengers lineup, it is anybody’s guess how the future of the MCU will play out.
Until then, we will have to fill the void by playing the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which our very own Ewan Moore called “an amazing fantasy” in his review.
