Andrew Garfield has confirmed he's open to returning to his Amazing Spider-Man role in the future, but only on one condition.
Garfield played Spider-Man / Peter Parker in two solo The Amazing Spider-Man films between 2012 and 2014, before later reprising the role in 2021 in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
After The Amazing Spider-Man 2, he was set to come back for a third outing in 2016 before Sony cancelled the film following a deal with Marvel Studios to bring Spidey into the MCU.
The universe was then rebooted for the MCU, with Tom Holland taking over the role.

Garfield would later come back in Spider-Man: No Way Home, sharing the screen with Holland and Tobey Maguire.
Now, four years on from that, the 41-year-old actor has confirmed he's open to returning again as Spider-Man in a new solo film, though he's laid out a very specific condition that must be obligated if he does.
"I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange," Garfield told fans while appearing at Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi [via Entertainment Tonight].
"Something very unique, and offbeat and surprising, kind of like the creative freedom they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies. You can honour the character in so many different ways through the multiverse in that way."

Given the reaction to Garfield's appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's safe to say that fans are dying to see him return to the role for a new solo film.
I always felt he'd be a good fit for the Spidey that appears in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, fighting Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter.
However, it seems as though Sony is no longer developing new films in that canon.
Following the cancellation of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Garfield found further fame acting in films like Hacksaw Ridge, Under the Silver Lake, and Tick, Tick… Boom!.

He also starred in several theatrical productions in London and New York.
More recently, he co-starred with Florence Pugh in We Live In Time, and is part of the main cast for Luca Guadagnino's upcoming thriller After the Hunt, which will release in cinemas on 10th October, 2025.
