Spider-Man fans torn over first official trailer for MCU Spidey's return

Spider-Man fans torn over first official trailer for MCU Spidey's return

This one could divide fans

It seems as though Spider-Man’s popularity shows no signs of wavering after the news of another upcoming adaptation has fans feeling hyped.

Well, at least some of them.

Didn't get around to playing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 yet? Check out our gameplay preview below!

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man is an upcoming animated television series which, as you can probably guess, once again tells the story of our favourite web-slinging hero.

Set to air on Disney+ on 29 January, 2025, the Marvel show is set to explore Peter Parker’s origins story in his early days as Spider-Man.

Not only that but Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man will be set in an alternate reality where Norman Osborn becomes Peter’s mentor instead of Tony Stark, further playing into the multiverse saga.

The project was originally announced back in 2021 and was set to be called Spider-Man: Freshman Year before it was later changed to Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man in December of last year.

With the animation style set to be reminiscent of the early The Amazing Spider-Man comic book art, fans are feeling torn, especially after our first sneak peek at the action.

Shared earlier this week, the teaser trailer shows just six seconds of the animated show as we see Peter zipping through the air, knocking enemy’s out with bricks and we even get our first look at some other characters.

However, it seems that its unique animation style has fans feeling divided and they took to the comments to share their thoughts.

“Going to get flack for this but this animation ain’t doing anything for me (IMO),” one comment read.

“Like how tf is Marvel giving S tier animation for Rivals and Snap but a pack of Gum and $7 for their TV shows?”

Another said: “Not a fan of the art style but still looking forward to it!”

That being said, there are still plenty of potential fans praising the unique animation style so it remains to be seen how thoughts will change when episode one airs in January.
