The latest trailer for The Witcher 4 that was shown off at The Game Awards last night confirms that one of the many endings for The Witcher 3 will actually be canon in CD Projekt RED’s upcoming game.
Obviously, if you’re somehow reading this and haven’t finished The Witcher 3 yet, there’s a good chance you’ll get spoiled from this point onwards you silly goose.
So, there was a lot to take in during that trailer huh? You know one thing that was pretty straightforward though? Ciri is alive.

Well, and this is just an educated guess on my behalf but, that probably means the ending where Ciri dies in The Witcher 3 isn’t the canon one.
Now the choice between the other two is a little less straightforward, but it’s still relatively easy to figure out.
Take a look at the new trailer below.
In one of the other two main endings for The Witcher 3, Ciri will become the Empress of Nilfgaard after she’s escorted away by troops during the ending moments in the game.

There’s always a chance that this could still be the canon ending, but let’s be real - it’d probably be a whole lot simpler for CD Projekt RED (and the player) if the true canon ending was the one in which Ciri completes her training and becomes a full-fledged Witcher… like she 100% was in the trailer for The Witcher 4.
As far as individual character endings go, that’s a whole lot more difficult to figure out.
We obviously didn’t get any Geralt action in the trailer, so there’s no way to figure out who his true canon romance option is.
Good luck to CD Projekt RED for trying to figure that one out though. Fans are very divided about whether or not they prefer Yennefer or Triss for Geralt, so there’s really no right answer there.

Honestly they might just wanna go with the ending where Geralt romances either, for their sake…
