There is no denying that The Witcher IV has become one of the most anticipated game releases since it was first released back in December.
It was at The Game Awards 2024 that The Witcher fans were treated to an official announcement for The Witcher IV, alongside a trailer that revealed that Ciri would be taking on the mantle of the titular monster-hunter.

As a successor to 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the fourth entry in the series has some big shoes to fill but with the latest instalment cementing itself as one of the best RPGs of all time, it is no wonder that fans are eager for the next chapter.

Which is why many got excited to see the potential beta test for The Witcher IV earlier this week.
However, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is as developer CD Projekt RED has come forward to reveal that this is a scam and a beta test does not yet exist.
The Poland-based developer took to the official The Witcher Twitter account to share news of this scam and warned fans not to fall prey to it.
“Recently, we've been getting reports from some community members that they've been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — this is a scam!” The post began.

It goes on to explain that it has been working hard to stop these fraudulent invites but if any fan stumbles across one, it recommends reporting it using the tools available.
Additionally, it reminds fans that if it ever organises a beta test for The Witcher IV in the future, announcements will be made on its official website and social media accounts.
“Remember: professional monster slayers don't fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!”
At the time of writing, The Witcher IV is in full production so it will still be a while until we can get our hands on the highly-anticipated release.
