The Witcher 4 trailer debuted by CD Projekt RED at The Game Awards

Ciri, is that you?

CD Projekt RED has just surprised everyone by dropping the new The Witcher reveal.

At The Game Awards 2024, fans watched as fog rolled out on the stage, and, suddenly, we were back in the world of The Witcher.

In the cinematic clip we see adult Ciri as our new Witcher.

Given that CDPR only just revealed a massive new update for Cyberpunk 2077, we didn't expect to see something for The Witcher IV so soon, yet here we are, mouths open in awe as Ciri takes over from Geralt.

"There are no gods here, only monsters."

Those words from Ciri sent a chill through everyone as we heard Geralt say that a new saga is beginning.

Take a look at the trailer for The Witcher IV

We can't wait to learn more about Ciri's journey; it already looks like it's going to push her past her breaking point.

Before the fandom gets carried away - understandably so - there's no sign of a release date just yet.

However, the fact that a first trailer has been debuted would seem to indicate that CDPR is further along in development than we first thought.

That said, as this was only a cinematic trailer that didn't showcase any gameplay elements, we're still in for a couple of years wait... We think.

Whatever agonising wait faces us, we're delighted to be able to get but a taste of that fantastical world once more, and with a matured, hardened Ciri. Though, as we can see in the trailer, she's not lost her soft side. Much like Geralt before her, hers is a gooey centre encased by a hardened shell.

Now that we have the first trailer, buckle up for the new theories that will undoubtedly start dominating social media.

In all honesty, we can't wait to read them - it's been far too long since we experienced the majesty of being a monster hunter.
