Star Wars fans are furious over a tease involving Darth Maul that was given and taken away.
We know that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace isn't the best movie in the beloved sci-fi franchise but it had a few good points such as Liam Neeson as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, his Padawan, a young Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and the menacing Sith Lord, Darth Maul.

Granted, towards the end of the movie, Qui-Gon Jinn made Darth Maul look like a punk but there’s no denying at the very least, the image of the Sith Lord will forever remain iconic in the Star Wars universe.

That being said, over the years, many Star Wars fans feel that Darth Maul was done dirty and not only should he have been able to put up a better fight against Qui-Gon Jinn but he should have been a recurring character in live-action productions.
Other than in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul has appeared in the likes of Star Wars Rebels, The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: Force Unleashed to name a few.
However, it’s quite possibly his appearance in the 2018 movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story that stings the most. “They can’t keep getting away with this,” tweeted PunchitChewie77 featuring an image of a distraught Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.
Also in the tweet was Darth Plagueis’ appearance in the cancelled Disney Plus series, The Acolyte as well as Darth Maul as a hologram in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Long story short, Disney and Lucasfilm keep teasing returns or first appearances of beloved Star Wars characters in live-action form to only result in a very underwhelming nothing, never to be seen again.

“Lucasfilm is better at keeping the Sith extinct than the Jedi ever were,” said PunchitChewie77 in a follow-up tweet.
“Cheap key dangling to keep fans strung along,” exclaimed RAguirreJR1903.
“Disney needs to stop listening to the annoying ‘fanboys’, it ruined The Rise of Skywalker, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and The Acolyte,” replied Oy_Lumo.
“I still find it so funny that Maul had his lightsaber on for some reason during a phone call, just so the audience would know it was him,” jokes confusedbeluga.

Hopefully, Disney and Lucasfilm will give Darth Maul a proper movie or episode in a series that will do the iconic Star Wars Sith Lord the justice he deserves, one day.
