Star Wars fans are heartbroken after learning the fate of the controversial Jar Jar Binks following the prequel movies.
Making his debut in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, it’s fair to say that Jar Jar Binks is one of the most controversial characters in the franchise. It's not so much a result of decisions he made in the movies, but more so the fact that many find him naturally annoying.

No doubt there are plenty of fans who love the quirky ways of Jar Jar Binks, a well-known member of the Gungan species from the planet Naboo, but even those that despise the character have to feel some sympathy for his cruel fate, right?

“What happened to Jar Jar after Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones?” asked Puzzleheaded_Till674. “I was researching what happened to Jar Jar on Google and it came up with two completely different answers.”
“Answer one suggested he ended up back on Naboo and started to make a living as a silly clown. Answer two suggests that Jar Jar ascended in the Gungan society, eventually becoming a senior representative for Naboo,” they continued.
“I’m not sure which one sounds more realistic for his character but if I were to go with my gut, I would think he became a silly clown.”
“He’s seen in Papatine’s entourage in Revenge of the Sith and then again at Padme’s funeral,” explains EndlessTheorys_19. “His eventual fate is depressing."

They continued, “He ends up retiring to Naboo, ostracised from society and reviled by the adults due to his part in bringing Palpatine to power and living life as a street clown entertaining war orphans. He eventually takes on this kid who was brutally burnt as an apprentice, as no one wanted to adopt the kid. This is all after Return of the Jedi."
“I think it's unfair to blame Jar Jar for that. It was only a matter of time before Palpatine gained emergency powers due to the war,” replied Vulptereen327. “If Jar Jar didn't propose it, another senator would have.”
“I have always felt bad for Jar Jar,” exclaimed Eyeseeyou1313. “He wasn't a bad person, he was good, and he wanted the best for his people, but people trusted him too much and gave too much power to someone they knew was clumsy. How could you fault him for what the Emperor did? It's only the people's fault, not Jar Jar's.”
I was one of those who found Jar Jar Binks to be instantly annoying but he deserved better, in my opinion.
