A scrapped scene from The Witcher 3 would have destroyed any chances of Geralt and Yennefer being the canon couple.
Fans of The Witcher have been arguing over who Geralt’s canonical love is for years now, usually a toss up between Yennefer or Triss, though a scrapped story plot from The Witcher 3 would have changed everything.
Check out The Witcher 3 below.
This was discovered by modders through the The Witcher 3 REDkit, an official mod tool released by CD Projekt Red that allows players to root through the game’s files and change it however they please.

Fans have had a field day making their own creations, though many have also had a blast exploring cut content from the full game, including an important scene involving Yennefer and the Lodge of Sorceresses.
Somewhere between the grand finale and one of Geralt’s big fights, Yennefer would betray the Lodge in an attempt to help Ciri, but thankfully this plot point was scrapped in favour of what we got instead.
Good thing they did as well, as it would have completely changed Yennefer’s character, possibly for the worst.
One thing’s certain though, the Team Triss supporters would have had a field day justifying Triss as Geralt’s one true love instead, though a hidden detail in Cyberpunk 2077 implies even CD Projekt Red is Team Yennefer…

As for what’s next for The Witcher series, we’ve got two more seasons of the Netflix series yet to release with Liam Hemsowrth taking on the lead role.
We’ve also got The Witcher 4 in development, though there’s been no news from CD Projekt Red on when it’s planned to release, or even when we might get a first-look.
Speculation suggests it’ll tell a brand-new story, hopefully with Ciri as the protagonist, that moves on from Geralt and his many triumphs, following his retirement at the end of The Witcher 3.
