The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time, yet, we know practically nothing about the next entry in Bethesda’s beloved fantasy RPG.
The Elder Scrolls VI was announced during E3 2018 with a glorious cinematic trailer that gave us a flyover view of Tamriel which concluded with the game's logo sending those in attendance at E3 and those watching at home into a frenzy of excitement.

In truth, when I say that the trailer was “glorious” all it was was a rendered view of Tamriel and a logo. But with this being the next entry in Bethesda’s cherished fantasy RPG series, one of the most popular franchises there ever was, fans' excitement of this brief teaser trailer is understandable.

Unfortunately, since then we’ve learned nothing new about The Elder Scrolls VI, at least officially. Following the E3 2018 reveal it would have been safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI would be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, since that time a lot has changed. Firstly, Microsoft now owns Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media. So the chances are that the title will be a console exclusive on Xbox. That being said, recent events with Microsoft willing to share some of its properties have given fans renewed hope that The Elder Scrolls VI will also come to PlayStation.
Secondly, it’s now approaching six years (yes, six years) since The Elder Scrolls VI was revealed at E3 2018 with no release date in sight. So not only is there practically zero chance of the fantasy RPG being released on PS4 and Xbox One, but there is also an increased possibility that it might even skip PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In other words, there’s every chance that The Elder Scrolls VI might be released on next-gen systems only.
So with that in mind, fans are not only still wondering when The Elder Scrolls VI will be released, but it’s also been that long, how much stock can we put into that E3 2018 reveal trailer? “Does everyone realise how massive that castle in the trailer is?” asked Redditor PlayConsistent7313.

Naturally, fans responded to the question in kind speculating what that castle could be and in what region. Though some fans have previously speculated that The Elder Scrolls VI may be set in the regions of High Rock and Hammerfell.
Yet, bringing speculative hype firmly to the ground, Reddit user miggleb responded “There is zero substance in the trailer. Take every pixel with a heap of salt,” to which MyNameConnor replied, “Most reasonable comment here.”
“The trailer wasn’t gameplay footage at all so take it with a grain of salt. But I understand your hopefulness,” said fm130. “It's a pre-rendered trailer with Starfield 3D assets for filler, don't overthink it,” exclaimed TheUnderKing89.
At the end of the day, excitement for The Elder Scrolls VI is understandable and I get it as a fan since The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. We know that the game will be massive but Bethesda is still keeping us in the dark six years on from the initial reveal, so we can only speculate on the game and when it will be released. Hopefully, Bethesda will finally reveal all this year, but I won't be holding my breath.
