It’s all change in the world of DC. CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting everything to form the new DCU, which will hopefully be a positive thing in the long run.
Right now though, it all feels rather bittersweet. Some people still aren’t over the fact that Henry Cavill is being replaced as Superman in the DCU’s early stages (it’s me, I’m people), and a number of shows have also been cancelled as part of the restructuring process. However, there’s also plenty to look forward to. It was recently announced that a new Superman film (titled Superman: Legacy) is coming in 2025, as well as The Batman Part II. A second Batman movie titled The Brave and the Bold is also in the works - that one will star a new actor as Batman, and will feature the caped crusader’s son, Damian Wayne, as Robin.
Coming to cinemas this June is The Flash - take a look at the trailer below.
As exciting as those movies are, they barely scratch the surface of what’s in the works at DC Studios. Intriguingly, we know very little about who’s going to be cast in most of the projects (if anything, it seems we mostly know who isn’t). Because of this, it’s become a lot easier to fantasise about ideal casting choices, and now that Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower has revealed that he’d be up for portraying an iconic Batman villain, I need to see it happen.

In an interview with Geek House Show at COMFEST 2023, the actor was asked which DC character he’d like to play in the rebooted DCU, to which he replied, “There’s been a lot of chat about Scarecrow recently, that would be cool.”
Given that the guy plays Vecna in Stranger Things, we know that he’s suited to spooky roles like this. Scarecrow has appeared in multiple Batman films - both live-action and animated - but the reboot could, in theory, leave the role open for someone new.
