Following its giveaway, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has seen its ranks surge with 10 new million players on PC, and expectedly, the developer is as happy as a clam.
If this is the first you've heard of Warhammer: Vermintide 2, I'm afraid to say that it is no longer free to download on Steam but it is currently at a rather splendid 80% discount. This sequel improved upon Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide in every element, and adventures were packed with enviable loot as a reward for those courageous deeds thinning out the hordes of the Skaven. The base game contains 13 missions, 20 enemy types, and more than 50 weapons, and since 2018, there have been four DLCs padding out Vermintide 2 with even more to whack, wallop and win.

"We're floored by the incredible response to the 7 Years of Tide celebration - welcome all new players!" said developer Fatshark in a post to Twitter, claiming that 10 million more players have jumped feet first into the game over the course of the giveaway. It's excellent news for the old guard too, as there'll be friends to be found in the new recruits that picked up the game for the first time.
Furthermore, Fatshark has limelighted its new free content for Warhammer: Vermintide 2, titled Trial of Treachery. "It is up to you and your fellow heroes to escort a caravan carrying precious cargo to a village plagued by strange and unusual happenings. Pave the way to Tockstadt and investigate what misfortune has befallen the settlement," explained the developer, adding that this is the first of a two-part content update, with the continuation coming in 2023. There are also 10 new premium cosmetics in the in-game store, offering one new hat and one new skin for each hero.
