As the Star Wars universe expands more and more, bringing in new stories or expanding on old ones, fans of the recent Jedi games, Survivor and Fallen Order, are eager to see the central character Cal Kestis introduced.
There’s a lot of overlap between Star Wars properties so bringing Kestis into a storyline for a Disney+ show, or even a film would be a simple task. However, the actor who plays Kestis in the games, Cameron Monaghan has expressed that he would only want to take on the role on one condition.
We're waiting with bated breath for news on the third part of the Jedi franchise
Speaking at FanExpo Vancouver 2024, Monaghan said “it would have to be right” for him to take on a live-action project. Explaining further he said “By that I mean, it has to continue the story or the character in some way. I don't want him to just kind of show up to stand around and be there. I want him to mean something and for there to be a significance for the character itself. So, it would have to make sense. But in the right context then, yeah, absolutely.”
Advert
The Jedi: Survivor and Jedi: Fallen Order developers and Monaghan are hard at work on a third game in the Jedi series so we’ll definitely get more of Kestis soon, but the actor is right to give himself this rule. It happens too much nowadays that we get characters simply for fan service, rather than to explore the characters and the world around them.
Fans were treated to an easter egg last year in the Ahsoka TV show as it was hinted that Ahsoka once met Cal Kestis, but we didn’t get much more than that. It would be great to see Kestis appear on TV somehow, Monaghan has the acting chops to deliver a great performance, so maybe we’ll see it one day.
